The experts at Dr. Hauschka Skin Care understand your skin. We know both what it needs and doesn’t need for a healthy, radiant appearance.

What your skin needs

  • Since 1967, we have been crafting natural and organic skin care products and we have identified over one hundred highly potent plants that guide your skin to a balanced state.
  • We know exactly which botanicals and combinations of botanicals will best deliver the visible transformation you’re looking to see.
  • Every ingredient that goes into a Dr. Hauschka Skin Care product has an important job to do. Whether delivering essential moisture, encouraging resilience or improving efficacy, each ingredient is carefully selected for its particular effects and its interaction with the whole composition.
  • We only include the ingredients you need for long-lasting skin health and beauty and we only include fragrance from pure botanical essential oils to stimulate your senses and inspire feelings that uplift, relax or energise.

What Your Skin Doesn’t Need

  • Filler ingredients that serve no purpose to your skin
  • Harsh abrasives and “quick fixes” that disrupt your skin’s natural processes
  • Harsh, overly alkaline or lathering cleansers
  • Synthetic chemical ingredients

The Importance Of Using Natural Beauty Products

Our skin is the largest organ in our body, it’s semi-permeable and therefore absorbs many product ingredients to the tiny blood vessels below the skin and then into the bloodstream.
On a daily basis, we apply face skin care, deodorant, body moisturiser, tanning products, sun protection, hair care including styling products, make-up and that’s just the morning routine. It’s not difficult to use up to 20 products daily!

  • Synthetic, man-made chemical products are essentially foreign bodies to the skin and, therefore, are over time stressors to the skin.
  • For our health and well-being, all products we place on the skin should be made from the highest quality natural, biodynamic and organic ingredients.
  • What you put on your skin affects both the health of your skin and your body.
  • Knowing this, you would want to use only the highest quality ingredients from nature.
  • The finest natural and organic ingredients support healthy and balanced skin function and a healthy skin doesn’t suffer from premature ageing either.

The ingredients you put on your skin, face and body, do matter

We know to feed our body nutritious, and wherever possible, organic food and it’s the same for your skin care, we’ve transformed nature’s ingredients to make natural and organic skin care convenient and easy to use – ingredients that your skin understands.

Dr. Hauschka Biodynamic Medicinal Plant Garden

Unique in skin care philosophy

At Dr. Hauschka, we have a medicinal background since 1935 with anthroposophical homeopathic remedies and many of these guidelines and of course medicinal knowledge goes into crafting our skin care.

If you have an oily skin you may be tempted to use harsh cleansing products that ‘strip’ the skin, this just results in your skin producing more oil to compensate. Clarifying Day Oil is a lightweight, rapidly absorbed oil, that helps to calm, balance and regulate oily skin. Yes, oil for an oily skin!

We’re absolutely against the use of night creams. During the night your skin regenerates and eliminates, and heavy, occlusive night creams impede this natural process of the skin. Sleeping isn’t ageing. Creams should only be used to protect and nourish your skin during the day time. Use of eye cream at night usually causes puffy eyes in the morning. For night time we use botanical extracts in a watery solution. One month of no night cream and you will see the difference!

Also we understand your skin has differing cleansing needs at each end of the day, therefore we have different morning and evening cleansing products that are both effective and gentle to your skin. Our morning cleanser is a deep cleansing almond meal preparation due to the overnight elimination activity of your skin while cleansing in the evening is to clean the dirt and dust your skin picks up during the day and to remove make-up and eye make-up.

Regenerating Range to support a maturing skin

How do you know authentic natural and organic ingredients in the total formulation?

What percentage of the ingredients in natural cosmetics are organic? What are the minimum standards and the maximum values? Furthermore: how can you describe the high quality of a product other than through its material properties – its finely tuned composition, its more than biochemical effect?

Our entire skin care and make-up is certified with the BDIH seal for ‘certified natural cosmetics’ and/or the international quality seal for natural and organic cosmetics ‘NATRUE’. The NATRUE standard distinguishes between natural cosmetics, natural cosmetics with at least 70% organic ingredients and natural cosmetics with at least 95% organic ingredients. The term ‘natural skin care’ alone is neither legally protected nor defined on a binding basis. At NATRUE you can find the certifications given to each individual Dr. Hauschka product. Look for the NATRUE label for a guarantee that products are as natural as can be! This provides consumer transparency and it’s our guarantee our products are free from synthetic chemical fragrances, colours and preservatives, mineral oils, petrochemicals, parabens, silicones and PEG.

Our preference is for biodynamic/Demeter certified, organic or responsibly wild harvested ingredients. If an organic version of a raw material is not yet available on the global market, we initiate organic or biodynamic growing projects.

There is more to quality than good raw materials

Our recipes depend on the highest quality natural and organic raw materials – but also on the care with which they were grown and processed. By using Demeter farming, we gain medicinal plant extracts that are high in vitality to pass onto your skin. The ingredients come together to form complex compositions made up of more than just the sum of their components. Only when their ingredients interact and are supported by our rhythmic manufacturing procedure do our products take on their unique quality that enables them to stimulate the skin’s natural activity.

The result: a healthy, strengthened, balanced, regulated and radiant skin!

P.S. We have never tested on animals, we test on happy to help out human volunteers.

Sensitive Skin

Screen Shot 2014-02-13 at 3.06.08 pm

A sensitive skin requires gentle skin care that also strengthens the condition towards a balanced and healthy skin.

How do I determine a Sensitive Skin Condition?

Redness, blotchy, thin skin. Possibly accompanied by permanently red cheek/nose region (visible capillaries), itching, flakiness. A skin that reacts easily.

Dr. Hauschka and Sensitive Skin

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care is particularly suited to a sensitive skin due to the gentle and strengthening nature of our products that are formulated to bring balance back to an unbalanced skin.

Often such a sensitive skin condition has come about through the use of overly harsh exfoliating products and/or lathering, overly alkaline cleansing products.

Dr. Hauschka product prescriptions are not black and white. Your particular skin condition is as uniquely individual as you are, therefore we always recommend having a facial treatment and seek advice from a Dr. Hauschka Esthetician for the optimum product prescription and daily regime. This is particularly so with a sensitive skin.

Recommended Daily Ritual

Cleansing Cream
Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum – if you also require support for a maturing skin
Day Cream*

Cleansing Milk
Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum – if required

We recommend Clarifying Toner for a sensitive skin because it contains Daisy which is anti-inflammatory and Echinacea for its anti-bacterial properties. Often a sensitive skin’s protection has been compromised with flakiness.

Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 4.41.36 pm

*Day Cream:
Some sensitive skins also carry heat. If that’s the case look to day care with cooling properties such as Quince or Regenerating, Rose has warming properties.

Rose Day Cream Light: suitable for a sensitive skin
Rose Day Cream: suitable for a dry, sensitive skin, and contains St. John’s wort which is calming
Melissa Day Cream is specifically formulated for a Sensitive Combination (oily t-zone, dry/normal cheeks) skin
Quince Day Cream: usually recommended for a normal skin however the cooling and soothing properties of quince make it also an option for a sensitive skin
Toned Day Cream: our tinted moisturiser that’s suitable for a sensitive skin and also helps to conceal redness and even skin tone. For a skin that’s more on the dry side.
Regenerating Serum and/or Regenerating Day Cream are formulated to support a maturing sensitive skin

Extra Care

We highly recommend Soothing Mask as a twice a week mask treatment however it may be used also as a day time moisturiser to sooth and balance a hypersensitive skin or simply to give skin a helping hand boost for a month.

A skin cell cycle is 28-30 days and mirroring this rhythm we also highly recommend a 30 night treatment of Rhythmic Conditioner Sensitive, one ampoule per evening and instead of Toner to strengthen and calm a sensitive skin.

Screen Shot 2014-01-04 at 7.25.04 pm

If your skin requires more support than Rhythmic Conditioner Sensitive we would then recommend Intensive Treatment 03 a one bottle/one month treatment for a hypersensitive and/or stressed skin condition.

Doing things differently…

Screen Shot 2013-10-10 at 4.18.38 PM

There’s some common questions that regularly feature for both new and existing customers. We do do things differently from the way you are likely to have been taught with conventional products.

It’s important to our team here at Dr. Hauschka Australia that you are getting the most beneficial results from your Products and our Daily Rituals and here’s how…

1) Cleansing
We have two cleansers for your daily cleansing needs.
Why? Because your skin has differing cleansing requirements at each end of the day.

Cleansing Cream gently deep cleanses after the night time elimination activity of your skin and also prepares your skin for day time protection.

How to use:
a) Mix with water to create an emulsion, not a paste
b) Cleanse with our gentle ‘Press and Roll’ technique, do not a scrub.

See our Morning Ritual Video

Cleansing Milk is your make-up and eye make-up remover plus it cleans your skin from the dirt and dust it picks up during the day. Gentle and effective cleansing that does not disrupt the skin’s acid mantle and therefore supports our no night cream stance.

Screen Shot 2013-10-30 at 1.18.32 PM

2) Toners

Our Toners are not to be used on cotton pads, they are hydrating treatment products containing active botanicals and are different from a conventional toner.

Use: Close your eyes and mist directly onto skin.

Conventional toners are used on cotton wool (which absorbs a huge amount of product by the way) to remove residual cleansing product.

Clarifying Toner contains Echinacea for its anti-bacterial properties and Daisy for its anti-inflammatory benefits. Facial Toner contains Witch Hazel for its astringent properties and one of our key ingredients, balancing Anthyllis.

Tip: Hydrate your skin with our Toner at any time. We keep a bottle in our desk to hydrate our skin during the day.

3) Doing it differently with day care
We only need to use a small amount of Day Care because our formulas are all so concentrated, for instance there’s 30 organic or biodynamic roses in every tube of Rose Day Cream!

How to use:
a) Warm a large pea size between the palms of your hands to melt the plant waxes
b) Apply using the entirety of your palms from the centre of the face outwards in the direction of lymph flow
c) Apply to skin still moist from Toner to ensure even and economical application

Please note: If you didn’t apply in this manner you would think Rose Day Cream, particularly, is way too thick and you would ‘overuse’ it.

Screen Shot 2013-10-15 at 10.40.09 AM

4) No Night Cream

Your skin metabolises and eliminates during the night time. Think of it as your skin needing to ‘breathe’. Using oil free night care supports this process. One month, a skin cell cycle, and you won’t need any more convincing!

a) If you feel your skin needs a ‘little more’ mist your Toner a second time in the evening.
b) Cleanse early in the evening, apply Moisturising Mask, removing prior to bedtime if you feel your skin is going through a stage of needing more moisture.

Night time products:

a) Toner
b) Toner and Regenerating Serum
c) Instead of Toner in the evening, Rhythmic Conditioners for a 30 night treatment. Skin cell cycle is 28-30 days.
d) Instead of Toner, Intensive Treatment 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05 as a complete treatment product in the one bottle and used in the morning and evening.

“I am only a couple of weeks into the ‘no night cream’ regime, I’m using Toner and Serum, and it has been the biggest shock to realise that I don’t need heavy night creams. My skin looks great in the mornings and my eyes haven’t been ‘puffy’. I should have done this much, much earlier.”

5) Colour and Care
As your skin improves, to that typical Dr. Hauschka healthy and radiant skin, you should need less Translucent Make-up but if you do need more coverage initially, use a double application of Translucent Make-up.

Tip: Always ‘set’ your make-up with Translucent Powder Loose or Translucent Powder Compact, alternatively my favourite at the moment is Illuminating Powder which gives an instant uplift to your complexion. You’ll really notice this clever powder in photos, as the light reflects off the subtle luminosity.

Conditioners and their benefits

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care; Dr. Hauschka Kosmetik

Renewing Night Conditioner
For all skin conditions
Advanced night care

Renewing Night Conditioner provides powerful oil-free night care for all skin conditions. This unique blend of rhythmitised ingredients enables your skin to complete its natural regeneration processes for night-time renewal: dry skin is encouraged to retain oil and moisture; sensitive skin is soothed; oily, blemished skin is calmed and balanced.

Formulation: Rhythmitised dilutions of witch hazel, madonna lily and silver, along with precious rose, bryophyllum, marsh mallow and sunflower support the skin’s essential night-time tasks of cleansing, balancing and renewal.

Skin cells are renewed every 28-30 days. Mirroring this same regenerative cycle, Renewing Night Conditioner should be used for 28-30 days. Apply nightly, after evening cleansing instead of Toner.  We recommend one 28 night treatment of Renewing Night Conditioner per year for each decade of life (for example 3 times a year at the age of 30). We particularly recommend in the two most transitional seasons of spring and autumn.

Flick the ampoule to ensure contents are in the bottom, snap top off using a towel and empty contents into cupped hand. Press gently and evenly to skin until the solution has been fully absorbed – include eyes, lips, earlobes, neck and décolleté.

Sensitive Care Conditioner

For sensitive, inflammed skin
Advanced care for sensitive skin

Sensitive Care Conditioner is specially formulated to care for sensitive, red or irritated skin, and skin prone to couperose.

Formulation: Rhythmitised dilutions of gemstones pearl (the oyster’s irritation), artemesia and malachite have a cooling and soothing effect on skin, helping to reduce the appearance of redness, couperose, rosacea and enlarged capillaries.

Skin cells are renewed every 28-30 days. Mirroring this same regenerative cycle, Sensitive Care Conditioner should be used for 30 nights instead of Toner.  We recommend one 28 day treatment of Sensitive Care Conditioner per year for each decade of life (for example 3 times a year at the age of 30).

Flick the ampoule to ensure contents are in the bottom, snap top off using a towel and empty contents into cupped hand. Press gently and evenly to skin until the solution has been fully absorbed – include eyes, lips, earlobes, neck and décolleté.

Holistic Night Routine

Dr.Hauschka Skin Care’s oil-free approach to night time skin care respects the skin’s inherent wisdom. Heavy, oily night creams do not allow the skin to ‘breathe’ and can inhibit the skin’s natural functions when it is most active. At night after cleansing, apply only a non-oily Dr.Hauschka Facial Toner/Clarifying Toner (and Regenerating Serum if appropriate to support a maturing skin) or Conditioner or Intensive Treatment.

A one month treatment of Renewing Night Conditioner is highly recommended for new customers, particularly those who are accustomed to the use of heavy night creams and may feel tight or dry during the transition to Dr. Hauschka’s oil-free night time ritual.

Sensitive Care Conditioner is recommended for a sensitive skin and in cases of sun stress, sunburn, allergies, irritation, heat and redness.

What is ‘rhythmisation’?

Rhythm the heart of Dr.Hauschka skin care

Screen Shot 2013-09-14 at 3.10.36 PM
Rose Essence preparation

In 1929 in the ‘rose experiment’ Rudolf Hauschka succeeded for the first time to make a watery extract of rose that did not contain alcohol and did not deteriorate. He was searching for a way to obtain the healing properties of a plant. The solution – rhythmisation.

The idea underlying the rhythmic process is that rhythm carries life, every plant, every living thing is exposed to rhythms, the influence of polarities; for example, light and dark, rest and movement, warmth and cold.  When the harvested plant, after being chopped and mixed with water, undergoes a process of rhythmisation, that is dynamic exposure to the polarities that have determined its life and strength, then something amazing happens. The extract, to which a little ash from the plant residues is added at the end of the process, remains stable for years and the plant has released its healing powers. The resulting ‘mother tinctures’ or the similarly produced essences or oily extracts are now ready for further processing.

A valuable source of inspiration

Dr. Rudolf Hauschka was a young pharmacist when he met Dr. Rudolf Steiner. Thirty years his senior, Dr. Steiner gave Dr. Hauschka the advice that was to inspire him to make his groundbreaking discovery years later:

“Study rhythms – rhythm carries life.”

Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel Essence preparation

With Steiner’s answer in his head, Hauschka developed a procedure for preserving medicinal plant extracts without using alcohol as a preservative. He used the power of natural polarities, the rhythmic alternation of darkness and light, warmth and cold, movement and rest.

Even today, we still use this basic rhythmic procedure to produce our extracts, essences and tinctures. We rhythmically stir our base products and even rhythmically shake our preparations to prepare them for the Intensive Treatments, for example. The rhythms of the seasons also determine the work in our medicinal plant garden.

Rhythm as a form of communication

Like all other organisms, your body also recognises and experiences different rhythms. If we take your skin alone as an example:

Your skin renews itself every 28-30 days. And it behaves differently during the day and at night, when it regenerates itself.

We tailor our skin care products to these rhythms: the regular use of Dr. Hauschka products supports your skin’s regeneration rhythm, activating and stabilising it. Rich, moisturising products pamper and protect your skin during the day while at night we recommend using non-oily products to enable your skin’s metabolic functions to work undisturbed.

By using rhythms, we can activate our body’s natural forces.

Calendula (Marigold) Essence
Calendula (Marigold) Essence

Dr.Hauschka’s extraction procedure

With his rhythmitised, aqueous medicinal plant extracts, Dr. Rudolf Hauschka developed groundbreaking new pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.  Today, we still use his procedure to produce our extracts: we cut up freshly harvested plants, mix them with water for seven days, subject them to light and darkness, warmth and cold, rest and movement, press and filter them and sometimes add a little ash to the pressed residues. The extract now contains the essence and the powers of a medicinal plant – and can be preserved for many years.

A rhythmical manufacturing procedure is also used to create oil extracts and aqueous essences for our skin care products. During this procedure, the oil extracts are subjected to a specific warming stimulus. Dried plant components, such as rose buds are carefully transformed into oil at a temperature of 37°C, or in other words at human body temperature.

Depending on the recipe, we mix the medicinal plant extracts, essences, tinctures and juices with high-quality waxes and oils to produce ready-to-use products. Out of principle, we forgo using any chemical/synthetic fragrances, dyes or preservatives.

The creamy foam caresses and moisturises the skin as a result of the high concentration of premium plant oils. Quince seed extract and plant surfactants mildly cleanse.

Unique fragrance formulations

With their distinctive scents the new Dr. Hauschka Body Washes make showering a unique experience – a treat for mind, body and soul. Jörg Zimmermann, perfumer for Dr. Hauschka Skin Care, with his four new creations has come up with appealing fragrance lines, which provide a particular stimulus for all types of people.

Composition with rose – enveloping and mysterious

“As I developed my ideas I kept the following questions in mind: What is the smell of a rose with nurturing and harmonising powers? What qualities does a rose emanate that capture our attention? When you compare the scent of roses, you discover that there is a broad spectrum within the genus. I searched for the most beautiful aspects. Usually fresh, citrus-like fragrances are emitted from the centre of the bud and develop as the rose opens. I discovered orange blossoms, delicate and spicy clove tones, and woody, velvety and creamy components. I was aiming for a creation in which the rose is light and playful, but at the same time very regal and seductive. A rosy and floral heart accord forms the main body around which the other individual aspects are grouped. An amber-like base gives the composition a creamy and gentle finish, which I interpreted using sandalwood and vanilla. They radiate a mysterious and velvety depth.”

Composition of lavender and sandalwood – quiet and harmonising freshness

“I was looking for a special variety of lavender with a gentle floral note and a lot of elegance. I found it at an elevation of 1,000 metres. This lavender is notable for the sense of peace and harmony that it projects. However, it also possesses a certain gentle yet rejuvenating freshness. The Australian sandalwood works its charm in the background, embedded in a regal, ambery chord, which rounds off the quiet freshness of the lavender with an enveloping, amber-like warmth. For me the fragrance creates associations of Provençal villages rising from the morning mist along the lines of hills on the Côte d’Azur.”

Composition with lemon and lemon grass – sparkling and refreshing

“I was on the lookout for a truly special raw material. I discovered essential oil made from fresh gingerroot, which emits a very citric fragrance. We are mostly familiar with ginger in Asian cuisine, so there is a close association with lemongrass. In the top note we perceive lemon and lime, which have a refreshing and toning effect. Fresh gingerroot and lemongrass draw out the citric impression and create an increasing complexity. However, this is not meant to be a complicated fragrance, but rather a clear, refreshing concept that is made richer with exotic ingredients. I see two tendencies in this fragrance. The first is toward athleticism, dynamism and vitality; the second, the concentration that comes from increased alertness. The scent stimulates and creates a presence – a wonderful shot of refreshment.”

Composition with almond – delicate and floral

“It was my wish to create a tangible experience of the progression from blossom to fruit, bringing in all these associations. This invoked images of the early days of spring, when the radiant blue sky shimmers above a sea of delicate pink blossoms that appear to dance in the mild air. The idea represented by the composition with almond is the chiffon-like transparency of a pink rose. I used bergamot, ylang-ylang and rose to interpret this floral chord. A balsamic base of tonka bean and vanilla sweeps us away to a sumptuous oriental palace and awakens memories of sweet, pleasurable indulgences.”

More about Jörg Zimmermann, our Perfumer

Following one’s nose

Jörg Zimmermann was just a little boy when his grandfather observed unusual behaviour in his grandson. Every time the five-year-old shook someone’s hand or touched a doorknob, he smelled his fingers. He absorbed the fragrance of people on the street and attempted to characterise them. When perfumer Jörg Zimmermann talks about his life, the numerous parallels to the novel “Perfume” by Patrick Süsskind are striking. Not surprisingly, he devoured this book in his youth, page for page. “Smell is a fascinating aspect of perception,” notes the WALA employee. Like Jean-Baptiste Grenouille in “Perfume”, Zimmermann also has a dream: to create the fragrance that captivates people’s senses, that transforms them, and perhaps creates a peaceful world.

Jörg Zimmermann’s workplace is all the way at the top, just below the roof of WALA Heilmittel GmbH, Dr. Hauschka HQ. Here he finds the quiet he needs to stimulate all the senses. In his head, he creates the fragrances that lend Dr.Hauschka cosmetic products their individual note. “Every product is different and thus requires its own statement.” Dr.Hauschka Skin Care uses exclusively natural substances compatible with the uncompromising demands of the company’s philosophy. “My job is to convey these values in my fragrance creations.  “None of the human senses is so old and so directly connected to the limbic system as the sense of smell. “It is closely related to memory and emotion,” says Jörg Zimmermann. Cultural features also play an important role. Fragrances make it possible to travel through time, to recall that which was long forgotten. Nothing triggers more spontaneous attraction or rejection than fragrances – they are encrypted messages transmitted by our environment. The magic of scent has always been of major importance; the sensual allure of fragrance enjoys a long tradition. The “master of fragrances” at WALA has been under their spell for as long as he can remember. As a result, it was always his hope to work with fragrances. It is a characteristic trait of Jörg Zimmermann to pursue goals with passion and perseverance. “One needs this trait as a perfumer. You always have to be on top of things, not be discouraged by failed experiments.” It takes months, sometimes years, for a new fragrance to be created. Zimmermann writes down hundreds of formulas only to discard them in the end. Perhaps two of 100 fragrance creations are ever actually implemented. “The ability to smell analytically is important,” says the man with the short, gelled hair. He uses his nose to deconstruct a perfume into its components and recognise what ingredients disturb the fragrance’s harmonious perception, what amounts to increase or decrease, and what substances to add or remove. “Every fragrance consists of top notes, middle notes and base notes”, explains Jörg Zimmermann. The top notes form the initial impression, the introduction of the perfume so to speak. They are followed by the middle notes, which convey the heart of the fragrance and give it shape. The third and final fragrance note is the basis note. It represents the finale of the fragrance, much like in a symphony orchestra. “The trick is to harmonise these three parts, to co-ordinate their temporal and spatial progression.”

The member of the French Perfumers’ Society requires absolute quiet during his work. This allows him to stimulate all the senses and recall images from his memory. After all, creating a scent involves much more than simply combining raw materials. It connects the world of thought with the world of feeling. Jörg Zimmermann composes, hears internal music, senses a wonderful lightness. Like a painter who has the image he wants to paint in front of his eyes, Zimmermann first creates the perfume in his head. He looks for base harmonies, previously combined individual scent compositions, to serve as a foundation. And then everything begins to flow. This flow leads to formulas which he enters into the computer – admittedly the dryer part of his work. Then the perfumer begins to experiment with the tones of his “fragrance organ”. This is the name given to the collection of essential oils from which he selects the key components for a fragrance. Some 200 substances are available, of which Zimmermann uses various numbers as ingredients in his composition. The more technical skills of developing perfumes can certainly be learned, but the ability to compose fragrances must be inborn. Jörg Zimmermann undeniably has this skill. “But I didn’t know what path to follow at first to make professional use of my abilities,” he recalls. So he studied art and cultural education, sharpening his artistic, literary and musical senses. There is no classical course of training to become a perfumer, neither in Germany nor abroad. But France is considered the mother country of perfume. At the age of 30, Jörg Zimmerman journeyed to southern France – more specifically, to Grasse, the capital of the perfume world. Gloves were perfumed in this city near the Côte d’Azur as early as the 17th century. Born in Tettnang, Germany and raised in the city of Baden-Baden, Zimmermann studied at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery from 2004 to 2006 and then worked with leading perfumers. He has been working for WALA since summer 2006, continuing a long-running tradition: the company has never purchased fragrances, choosing to develop them itself instead. “This helps our products to maintain their unmistakable character,” emphasises Zimmermann. Dr.Hauschka skin care products contain no chemical/synthetic fragrances, despite their extensive availability on the market: “We use exclusively natural essential oils of an extremely high quality.” Jörg Zimmermann is convinced: “Our customers notice this uniqueness, this strong foundation of knowledge which flows into our products. The soul senses it and is able to regenerate itself – along with the entire person.”

How to reduce skin redness

skin redness feature

Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily, hydration helps redness.

Dilated capillaries (sometimes referred to as ‘broken’ capillaries) need excellent winter time protection. Choose Rose Day Cream and mix with a little Moisturising Mask for an extra hydrating, moisture and protective boost.

Rosacea is inflammation of the capillaries and is a condition that must be managed. The inflammation and redness usually occur over the nose and cheeks. Acne may also be associated with this condition. The following exacerbates rosacea:
Spicy Foods
Menopausal hot flushes

If you need a nice warm shower, splash your face with cool water afterwards.

If you have acne rosacea then apply 1-2 drops of Normalising Day Oil to the area as well as the below daily regime recommendations. Also use Pure Care Cover Stick to treat and conceal pimples.  Amazing product!

Hypersensitive or sensitive skin – overly alkaline harsh cleansers, exfoliants or lathering cleansers are often the culprit as they disrupt the natural pH and protective hydro lipid layer of the skin. Keep to ‘correct cleansing’ with Dr. Hauschka and cleanse your skin in a gentle manner.
Rose Day Cream contains St. John’s wort which is calming however Rose is a warming ingredient and if there’s heat and redness then you need cooling, soothing products such as Regenerating Serum, Quince Day Cream, Toned Day Cream (which helps to hide some of the redness) or Soothing Mask.

Redness associated with dryness – particularly common in winter time with dehydrating effects of indoor heating and drying effects of harsh weatherUse Moisturising Mask as a day cream until condition improves.

The following is our recommended regime for Rosacea or Hypersensitive Skin:

Cleansing Cream – gentle deep cleansing after the night time activity of the skin. See ‘Press and Roll’ video.
Clarifying Toner – containing Echinacea (anti-bacterial properties) and Daisy (anti-inflammatory properties), just close eyes and mist onto skin.
Regenerating Serum – 1 drop only and if you need support for a maturing skin. Cooling and soothing for sensitivities.
Soothing Mask – cooling, soothing and may be used as a Day Cream.

Conceal redness with Dr. Hauschka Concealer, (if you need more concealing power use Pure Care Cover Stick) and Translucent Make-up, ‘setting’ with Translucent Powder which is available in Loose or Compact.
