Elizabeth on Cleansing Cream

Here’s an informative article by Elizabeth King, who was Esthetician Trainer for the U.K., and is now living back in her home country of South Africa.

My favourite Dr. Hauschka product has to be Cleansing Cream. It has been my number one product for many years, and I often describe it as my desert island product.

The cleansing and anti-inflammatory ingredients coupled with the unique method of ‘press and roll’ gives rise to a truly holistic product. It was and still is my first essential step to restoring health and radiance of my skin. When I am cleansing properly everything else in my routine just seems to falls into place. My skin is able to readily build on what the correct cleansing routine has begun.

At this time of year, when it is beginning to get cooler, my skin becomes more sluggish. A good cleansing ritual not only ensures clean breathing skin, it also stimulates circulation and increases cellular activity.

Whether you are extremely oily or suffering with intense dryness, Cleansing Cream supports your skin providing it with the necessary steps for it to begin to heal and rebalance itself. This product works with the skin’s natural processes so that it not only deeply cleanses, but also strengthens the upper layers of the skin, thereby allowing the skin to perform optimally. This means too that this product is ideal for any age, whether adolescent or mature skin.

Correct cleansing is the first fundamental step in one’s skin care routine, yet as an Esthetician, I am always surprised at how often this part of routine is neglected. By getting the cleansing right, one can then be sure that the chosen moisturiser is indeed treating the true underlying skin condition.

Taking a look at some skin conditions we can see that the almond-meal Cleansing Cream does so much more than remove the surface dirt and grime:

The first step for an oily, congested skin is that it needs to breathe! Cleansing Cream not only effectively binds with dirt and grime. With our clever ‘press and roll’ technique, the suction created safely lifts and releases stagnant sebum and old dead skin cells that have accumulated in the pores.

Remember harsh, overly alkaline, exfoliants, acid, lathering type cleanses ‘strip’ the skin, disrupting the acid mantle, and indeed force the skin to produce more oil to compensate as well as dehydrating the superficial layers. As a result, the increased oil production becomes trapped as the dry, flaky skin collects in the pore!

A dry, dehydrated skin still needs thorough cleansing but this thoroughness should not be at the expense of stripping the skin of its natural oils. Nor should it be so gentle that the skin feels comfortable but it’s not effectively cleansed. Night-time elimination and renewal functions require a skin that is correctly cleansed. The almond meal of the cleansing cream ensures the skin is deeply cleansed, at the same time restoring and maintaining the health of the protective acid-mantle. This in-turn restores the skin’s own natural moisture levels.

Mature skin really benefits from the safe daily exfoliation that the almond-meal Cleansing Cream provides. When circulation is sluggish, the skin’s natural desquamation process slows down. The result is an accumulation of dead skin layers and the skin may look pallid. The daily use of the Cleansing Cream with the unique ‘press and roll’ method ensures the almond meal binds to the dead cells and lifts them off without disturbing the healthy layer beneath. The result is fresh skin daily! Without the burden of accumulated layers of dead skin, the skin is also able to re-establish a healthy rhythm of cellular renewal.

Cleansing Tip 1:
Begin your cleansing with a warm Bath Essence compress, include front and back of neck. The wonderful aroma of any one of our Bath Essences immediately soothes both the skin and your senses. The warmth of the cloth relaxes pore walls so that deep-pore cleansing can take place. Blood circulation is increased bringing a fresh delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin.

Cleansing Tip 2:
Beginning at the forehead, always ‘press and roll’ moving from the centre of the face outwards. In this way you are following the paths of the lymphatic circulation. This supports skin’s internal cleansing process at the same time.

Cleansing Tip 3:
Always complete your cleansing with a cool splash – Elisabeth Sigmund, co-founder of Dr. Hauschka Skin Care, saw the connection of a dull, tired skin with a sluggish lymphatic system. Complete your cleansing ritual with a cool splash, or a cool compress, taking the time to hold the cool water against your skin for several seconds. The rhythmical contrast between the warmth earlier and now the coolness stimulates the lymphatic system. Cellular wastes accumulating in the inter-cellular spaces are removed. Also coolness activates the minute muscle alongside the hair follicle causing contracting thereby assisting with removal of any last remaining dirt. A simple technique that also keeps your skin feeling soft without the need for harsh exfoliation.

Every Day – Morning

1) Drink warm water and lemon juice first thing upon waking in the morning and do this every morning. If it’s going to be easier then juice a pile of lemons, put the juice in ice blocks and freeze. Take one block out each night and place in a cup, so you’re ready for the morning. We need to make this habit quick and easy. Aids the body in a clear skin, flushing out toxins, jump starts the digestive tract, aids the liver in its cleansing processes and increases detoxification.

2) Use 5 drops of Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Bath Essence in your basin cleansing water. We recommend Compress & Hydration + Press & Roll, at the basin, rather than cleansing in your morning shower.

Why do we promote ‘Compress & Hydrate’?
a) Warming your skin first softens your pores to ensure a much deeper cleanse
b) You will use your cleansing products much more economically
c) Complete by splashing or compressing with cool water after cleansing to activates a minute muscle beside the hair follicle, contraction helps to remove any last remaining dirt
d) Your skin will feel so much softer without the need for harsh exfoliation
e) Check out our Compress & Hydrate + Press & Roll video

We want you to get the best results!

3) Cleansing Cream – ‘press & roll’ technique.

4) Facial Toner or Clarifying Toner – close eyes and mist onto the skin, 3 pumps should do.

5) Day Care – all are highly concentrated so should always be warmed between the palms of the hands and applied to skin still moist from Toner. This ensures even and economical application.

Clarifying Day Oil – to balance and regulate an oily/blemished skin
Melissa Day Cream – for sensitive combination (oily t-zone, dry/normal cheeks) skin
Rose Day Cream Light – for normal or sensitive skin, usually recommended for a younger skin, up to around 35.
Rose Day Cream – rich and highly protective for normal, dry, sensitive, mature skin
Quince Day Cream – cooling, soothing and protective for normal skin or sensitive skin
Tinted Day Cream – tinted moisturiser for normal, dry, sensitive or mature skin
Revitalising Day Cream – for aiding sebaceous activity and guiding skin to a balanced state in a normal, dry, mature/pallid skin
Regenerating Serum & Regenerating Day Cream – specific support for firming a maturing skin

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care; Dr. Hauschka Kosmetik

1) ‘Compress and Hydrate’ skin to soften the pores in readiness for cleansing. Use 5 drops of Moor Lavender Calming Bath Essence in the water
2) Soothing Cleansing Milk

Mixing Clarifying Clay Mask with water in readiness for application

For those that need it here’s step by step instructions on how to do a Clarifying Steam BathClarifying Clay Mask and Cream Mask for Day 1 which will be repeated once a week during the programme, alternatively there’s full instructions in your product box:

1. Compress and hydrate your skin, cleanse with Soothing Cleansing Milk, remove with the warm, moist Dr. Hauschka Compress Cloth.
2. Place 1 heaped teaspoon of Clarifying Clay Mask in a small container in readiness.
3. Dilute two teaspoons of Clarifying Steam Bath with ½ litre (500ml) of steaming water in a large bowl. Lean over the bowl, covering the head with towel, and steam for 5-10 minutes. Follow with Clarifying Clay Mask application.

Please note: If you don’t wish to steam, then you may do this step with Clarifying Steam Bath and ‘Compress and Hydrate’ instead.

4. While your skin is still warm and moist mix 2 to 2 1/2 teaspoons of water (I use the Clarifying Steam Bath water) to the Clarifying Clay Mask in the small container. The consistency you want is spreadable, not too thin because it will drip off your face and not a paste.

5. Apply mask to your face and neck excluding eye contour area ideally with a mask brush. Apply from the centre of the face outwards. We always work in the direction of lymph flow. Allow to dry, it’s no longer active once dry.

Clarifying Clay Mask Tip: Watch where the clay mask dries first. That’s a good indication that particular area of your face is dehydrated. Are you missing that area with your Day Care? Do you need a richer Day Care product?

6. To remove Clarifying Clay Mask the Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Sponge makes the job quick and easy, but a non white face flannel will do, moistened with the now lukewarm facial steam water. Remove by moistening the mask first, then wiping.

7. Now apply your Cream Mask (Revitalising, Hydrating, Firming or Soothing) including the eye contour area, as an eye mask.

8. Leave on for at least 30 minutes to absorb. I leave mine on for most of the evening. Remove Cream Mask with a warm moist Compress Cloth before bedtime.

9. Apply the contents of a Renewing Night Conditioner Ampoule.

Please note: If you are new to Renewing Night Conditioner ampoules, flick the top to ensure all liquid is in the bottom of the ampoule, then using a towel break off the glass top. Pour 1/2 the contents into the palm of one hand, spread between the palms of the hands and quickly press into the skin and repeat with the balance of the liquid. Apply nothing further to your skin. It’s bedtime.

Note: We do not recommend any heat for a rosacea skin condition – use tepid water for a Compress & Hydrate instead.

Your skin will reward you for the extra effort, it will look radiant, refined and even toned, nourished and pampered. x

Our ingredients

Each and every one of the ingredients in our products contributes to their overall effect. Careful thought goes into the selection and sourcing of the raw materials as well as the way in which the individual ingredients are combined to form complete Dr. Hauschka products. We also adhere to the highest quality standards.

This page tells you more about Sandalwood, where it comes from, why we use it and what functions it performs in our products.

Why is sandalwood used as an ingredient in Dr. Hauschka products?

A tree’s fragrance normally comes from its blossom. The fact that the sandalwood tree concentrates its essential oil in its wood impacts on its effectiveness. Unlike airy floral fragrances, the fragrance of sandalwood conveys a sense of stability. The floral quality concentrated in the solid wood demands durability. Instead of a strongly emanating scent, sandalwood emits a subtle fragrance that warms the soul, touches the heart and leaves you feeling grounded. Only once applied to the skin does it develop into a delicately effective force, which gently envelops and offers a sense of calmness. Sandalwood water from the distillation process helps tone the skin and give it vitality.

Ingredients in Lavender Sandalwood Calming Body Cream

Sandalwood oil offers a sense of calmness and supports the soothing effect of the lavender. Balancing wood sorrel extract has a harmonising effect, while premium olive, macadamia nut, apricot kernel and avocado oils strengthen the skin’s barrier function. The skin feels silky-soft and smooth following application and has its natural balance restored thanks to the Body Cream’s soothing effect.

Raw material profile

Most people know sandalwood from India. Anyone who has travelled to this colourful country will ever forget its characteristic scent. It permeates rooms and lingers on clothing. The fragrance comes from certain sandal trees, of which there are about 25 species worldwide. These are natively found in the Indian subcontinent, Australia, from Hawaii to New Guinea and in the Philippines, and have certain things in common: their wood contains essential oil and they’re classed as semi-parasitic. The trees obtain some of their nourishment from the root systems of neighbouring plants, but can also survive alone, without a host plant.

Sandalwood essential oil is obtained from sandal trees from India and Australia. These grow to heights of between one and ten metres, are evergreen, flower throughout the year and are not fussy about where they grow – whether in fertile valleys or on dry mountainsides, the sandal tree thrives anywhere. Indeed, the scent of its wood seems to be more intense the dryer and poorer the soil it grows in. Its leaves are large and leathery, somewhat like laurel leaves. Its unscented flowers usually have four petals, which look yellow on opening but gradually take on a deep red colour. They grow in clusters at the tips of the branches.

The essential sandalwood oil obtained from the reddish heartwood contains a number of substances including the sesquiterpene alcohol santalol and santalen, which is classed as a sesquiterpene. It is antiseptic, toning and stimulates the lymph flow. The essential oil plays an important role in the perfume industry.

In aromatherapy, the fragrance of sandalwood is used to help combat excessive mental strain. The harmonising fragrance is soothing, relieves tension and helps people find their inner peace.

To harvest the heartwood for steam distillation, the felled tree trunks used be left lying on the ground for nature to take its course. White termites would attack the bark and the soft sapwood, until a few months later only the almost cleanly stripped hard heartwood remained.

Essential sandalwood oil is antispasmodic and antibacterial. It can be used to help treat minor urinary tract infections. Inhalations are said to help combat persistent coughs.

As sandalwood is so popular that natural stocks have been strongly decimated, especially in India, each year the Indian government issues felling licences that are subject to strict conditions.

Origin, cultivation and processing

The essential sandalwood oil used in Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products is obtained from sustainable, certified organic forestry in Australia. Tree nurseries in the tropical regions in the north of the country propagate the Australian sandalwood trees (Santalum spicatum) and their host plants, both of which are cultivated together. The trees are therefore given the necessary conditions for optimal growth. Every year, new, species-rich plantations are created so that sandal trees of different ages are simultaneously available. The sought-after essential oil is obtained by felling trees with an age of 15 to 17 years. Machines strip the trees to leave only the hard heartwood. After this is chipped and ground, the essential oil is obtained from it using steam distillation. It takes about 20 kilograms of sandalwood to produce one kilogram of essential oil. The distillation process is exceptionally lengthy: the sandalwood is distilled at just over 100°C for up to 100 hours.

Sage Mint Deodorant and Rose Deodorant

The formulations of Dr. Hauschka Deodorant were optimised in 2015. They rely on the authentic nature and the full force of their natural ingredients. The effective formulas make it difficult for odour causing bacteria to grow. As a finely balanced composition, the two roll-ons protect and care for the skin, are well tolerated by the skin, and do not stain and do not contain pore constricting aluminium salts. An elegant, delicate fragrance of rose and herb and the fresh touch of sage and mint.

Sage Mint Deodorant – herb fresh reliability

The interaction between the fresh mint fragrance and the herbal bouquet of sage provides long-lasting freshness, you can count on reliable fresh protection. The oil-free Dr. Hauschka Sage Mint Deodorant contains the essences of sage and witch hazel, two naturally effective, anti-microbial and astringent components. The vivacious fragrance of mint and the natural bouquet of sage harmonise to provide a long-lasting feeling of freshness. People who are physically active can trust the reliable, fresh protection offered by Sage Mint Deodorant. The composition of active botanical extracts and essential oils deodorises gently and hinders the growth of odour causing bacteria. Unpleasant odours are effectively prevented.

Tip: The herb fresh scent of Sage Mint Deodorant is ideal to partner with invigorating Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body WashLemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Milk and Quince Hydrating Body Milk.

Rose Deodorant – gentle protection

Creamy Dr. Hauschka Rose Deodorant works reliably and it’s gentle on your skin. Carefully coordinated components with mild deodorising and moisturising properties are used in this creamy formula. The moisturising oil in the rose formula imparts a sense of well-being, while the essence of lady’s mantle has an astringent effect and helps to regulate the process of perspiration. Rose water and essential rose oil add an elegant, delicate fragrance which lends a note of freshness and covers unpleasant scents. Rose harmonising properties and the roll-on is suitable for normal to sensitive skin.

Tip: Rose Deodorant harmonises perfectly with Rose Nurturing Body Cream, Rose Nurturing Body Oil and Rose Nurturing Body Wash which provides warmth and security.

Feel fresh – in every situation

New Dr. Hauschka deodorants provide protection and care for the skin. Whether during exercise or in stressful situations, the body starts to sweat under a wide variety of circumstances. Perspiration is a completely normal metabolic function, but it can be unpleasant in certain situations. This is why the new deodorants from Dr. Hauschka inhibit the growth of bacteria and cover odours naturally. However, they do not suppress the process of perspiration itself – which means they do not need to contain aluminium compounds.

Like a balm for the skin, Rose Deodorant contains moisturising jojoba oil, while Sage Mint Deodorant has a gel-like consistency and is oil-free. Both stay on the skin longer than short-acting deodorant sprays, imparting a lasting feeling of natural freshness.

How quickly and how much a person perspires depends on a number of factors – diet, clothing, and individual levels of activity and stress. Perspiration regulates the body’s temperature, eliminates metabolic wastes and combines with the skin’s acid mantle to form a barrier that protects us from harmful germs.

Screen Shot 2015-06-02 at 10.37.33 am

What makes Dr. Hauschka Deodorants’ so effective in fighting the undesirable side-effects of perspiration?

The key lies in the newly developed formulas, with their authentic character and the full power of their naturally astringent, anti-microbial and moisturising ingredients. Both products are vegan and contain neither aluminium chlorohydrate nor other soluble aluminium compounds which constrict the sweat glands. The fundamentally different formulas of the two deodorants combine effective skin care and proven protection. Deodorising ingredients were composed and refined with moisturising extracts of medicinal plants and natural essential oils.

  • Tests have shown that both products are very well tolerated by the skin and offer long-lasting effectiveness
  • Do not sting when applied directly after shaving
  • Do not leave any traces on clothing

Please note: If you are going through transition from anti-perspirant use, that blocks your pores, to natural and organic Dr. Hauschka Deodorants, you may experience a couple of weeks detox.

Daily Mail > Possible link between anti-perspirants and breast cancer

Telegraph > Aluminium possible link to breast cancer

Editor’s note: When my partner’s Aunty was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer her oncologist advised “Switch to a natural deodorant such as Dr. Hauschka.” Of course her oncologist had no knowledge that I worked for Dr. Hauschka. I believe women should be made aware of comments such as this.

Why do we perspire?

Perspiring or sweating plays a vital role in maintaining normal health because it helps our bodies:

  • eliminate toxins
  • maintain the balance of salt levels
  • regulate the body temperature

On average we lose around 500mls to 1 litre of liquid a day through our skin. Generally, this evaporates very quickly.

We perspire

  • when we exert ourselves through exercise and physical activity
  • with the release of adrenaline due to fear or worry
  • when your environment is too warm

Interestingly, perspiration is almost odourless when it’s fresh, but when it stays on the skin it develops an odour. This smell is created by bacteria that breed in the warm, moist and nutrient-rich conditions created by perspiration.

What’s the difference between antiperspirants and deodorants?

Antiperspirants: Stop you from perspiring

Deodorants: Stop the bacteria from smelling, by killing the bacteria or neutralising the smell

The science behind deodorant

Scientists figured out that the best approach would be to prevent these bacteria from breeding, thereby having a deodorising action. The first commercial deodorant was launched in 1888. Unfortunately, in the quest for ever stronger and more effective deodorants, stronger and more powerful chemicals started to be used.

The science behind antiperspirants

Antiperspirants are based on ingredients such as aluminium chloride, aluminium chlorohydrate and aluminium zirconium trichlorohydrate. These aluminium ions form a temporary blockage in the sweat ducts, stopping the flow of sweat to the skin’s surface.

Most antiperspirants contain ingredients which react with protein molecules present in perspiration and swell to form a gel-like substance. For these to be effective, their molecular size needs to be small enough to allow them to enter skin pores so that when they swell and turn to a gel, they effectively block the pores and prevent sweat from being secreted.

Screen Shot 2015-06-02 at 11.35.47 am

What’s the alternative to chemical deodorants?

Zinc ricinoleate is the zinc salt of ricinoleic acid, extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant. Zinc ricinoleate does not inhibit normal perspiration, and will not interfere with the natural flora of the skin. Instead, it ‘fixes’ the odours produced by bacterial decomposition in sweat so that they cannot be released into the atmosphere and cause the characteristic sweaty smell.

Chemicals in deodorants

Many familiar brands of deodorants contain triclosan. The chemicals in deodorants which prevent bacteria from growing have been linked to health problems ranging from skin irritation and contact dermatitis. Excessive use of spray deodorants have also been linked with more serious problems such as allergic reactions, asthma and breathing difficulties.

Chemicals in antiperspirants

Aluminium found in antiperspirants can cause inflammation, Aluminium chlorohydrate and Aluminium zirconium chlorohydrate are both used in chemical antiperspirants. These are both based on aluminium and can cause skin irritation.

Research suggests that aluminium-based compounds may be linked to elevated aluminium levels and health problems including breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

Antiperspirants also have another downside – not only can they cause the problems mentioned above, but they also prevent the body from eliminating toxins through perspiration and reduce our ability to regulate body temperature.

Our ingredients

Each and every one of the ingredients in our products contributes to their overall effect. Careful thought goes into the selection and sourcing of the raw materials as well as the way in which the individual ingredients are combined to form complete Dr. Hauschka products. This blog tells you more about our key ingredient, Anthyllis, aka Woundwort, where it comes from, why we use it and what functions it performs in our products.

Plant profile

In its first year of growth, anthyllis forms a lush green rosette of leaves at ground level. Only in the second year do flower stems then grow from these, reaching heights of up to 90 cm and becoming densely covered in flowers. Stand by a field of anthyllis on a warm day and you’ll hear the hum of insects as bees and butterflies visit the nectar-rich flowers.

Each anthyllis head is made up of multiple long petals, surrounded by a green crown of leaves. Unlike other species in the plant kingdom, the individual flowers never open up fully; instead, they form a cup in which nectar can collect.

The chalk-loving plant is found on fallow fields and meadows, by the wayside and on sunny slopes, but never where the soil is over-fertilised.

Facial Toner ingredients

In Facial Toner, anthyllis fortifies the skin together with a witch hazel extract, which supports the rhythmic processes. After cleansing, Facial Toner activates the skin’s flexible and vibrant barrier function to create a fresh, radiant complexion. It prepares the skin for daytime or nighttime skin care.

Why is anthyllis used as an ingredient in Dr. Hauschka products?

Anthyllis looks different depending on its location. In other words, it knows how to adapt. It can grow wildly and exuberantly, but also in a controlled, structured manner. As an ingredient in Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products, it uses these properties to unfurl delicate, regulating abilities, flexibly adapting to all skin conditions. It addresses the skin as an organ with all of its functions and helps it to establish boundaries without become rigid. Skin that’s fortified gives us an adaptable barrier. Anthyllis provides the stimuli needed to guide any skin condition to a balanced, healthy condition, to revive it and to harmonise.

Origin, cultivation and processing

The anthyllis used in Dr. Hauschka Skin Care products is mainly sourced from our biodynamically cultivated Demeter Sonnenhof Farm in Bad Boll, Germany. Straight after harvest, Dr. Hauschka/WALA employees process the blossoming plants, using a special rhythmic WALA procedure to obtain an essence from them. The extract is obtained using a cool mixture of water and alcohol. A rhythmic WALA procedure is also used to obtain an oil extract from dried anthyllis. This is mixed with warm apricot kernel oil at a temperature of 37°C (human body temperature) and further processed. The different ways of handling the plant highlight its diverse properties. Both extracts are used in many Dr. Hauschka Skin Care formulations.

Anthyllis belongs to the faboideae family, a subfamily of the fabaceae (pea) family. It first originated from Southern Europe but is today found almost all over Europe as well as in Western Asia, North Africa and America.

The scientific name anthyllis vulneraria is derived from the plant’s usage and appearance; anthos > petal, ioulas > beard, volnus > wound. Combined, these terms indicate that this is a hairy flowering plant that can be used to treat wounds.

This medicinal plant was mentioned by the Greek doctor Dioskurides using the name anthyllis back in the 1st century A.D. In the Middle Ages, anthyllis was mentioned in herb books as a plant that helped to heal wounds.

The caterpillars from Germany;s smallest butterfly feed on anthyllis. Wild bees appreciate anthyllis as a source of nectar.

Pomegranates not only taste good, they have a range of health benefits. Anti-fungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties have been ascribed to them. They’re also resistant to drought and can store much moisture and vitality in their fruit.

An age-defying ingredient

  • We process the whole Pomegranate fruit, including the Peel for our products, obtaining a preparation that promotes regeneration of the skin.
  • Pomegranate Peel is an important ingredient because its extract inhibits an enzyme that is responsible for the breakdown of collagen in ageing skin.
  • At the same time, the extract activates an enzyme that’s involved in the production of collagen.
  • Pomegranate Seed Oil contained in the whole-fruit extract stimulates cell division in the keratinocytes, cells which produce the important skin-strengthening protein keratin.

Is your make-up working for your skin too?

Pomegranate extract is a key ingredient in Dr. Hauschka Foundation, so as a treatment Foundation you’re getting superb value. It’s both a sumptuous make-up and a product that’s also integral to your age-defying skin care programme.

Pomegranate is also to be found in Regenerating Neck and Décolleté Cream and our luxurious Regenerating Body Cream.

Tip: For a particularly dry mature skin, or in winter time, you may like to try Regenerating Neck and Décolleté Cream as your face cream as well as for neck and décolleté. It’s a richer formulation than Regenerating Day Cream, because there’s less sebaceous glands in the neck and décolleté area.

Dr. Hauschka Regenerating Range supports a maturing skin.

All our Moisturisers, including Clarifying Day Oil, are highly concentrated, for example Rose Day Cream contains 30 organic or biodynamic Roses! They’re designed to be applied as follows:

  1. Warm around a large pea size amount of Moisturiser (3-4 drops of Clarifying Day Oil) between the palms of the hands to melt the oils and waxes.
  2. Apply using the palms of both hands to skin still moist from Toner which locks in hydration, aids absorption of botanical actives and ensures even and economical application.

  • Neem, St. John’s wort and calendula extracts combine to visibly minimise redness and help maintain a healthy, radiant complexion

Applying our homeopathic knowledge of ‘like treats like’ we recommend an oil for an oily skin. It may seem counter-intuitive however, harsh products just ‘strip’ the skin creating imbalance and the skin produces more oil to compensate whereas Clarifying Day Oil calms and relaxes the skin.

If you get pimples then definitely add Coverstick into your morning regime, to treat and conceal with just the right amount of tea tree and manuka for their anti-bacterial properties, and tapioca starch which absorbs. Amazing product!

If Foundation is too rich for your skin then mix a little Translucent Bronzing Tint with your Clarifying Day Oil.

Please noteClarifying Day Oil may also be used as an Oil ‘serum’ by mixing a drop or two with Rose Day Cream for additional protection against the environment and an anti-oxidant boost for any skin condition.
