For a balanced and healthy skin!
1) Drink warm water and lemon juice every morning on waking to help keep your skin clear. Even better to add a little organic apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of honey in as well!
Resolve to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water every day to keep your skin plump and hydrated.
Lemon Tip: When lemons are in season juice plenty and freeze small amounts in ice cubes. Pop an ice cube in a cup at night so it’s quick and easy for the morning.
Hydration Tip: A small amount of apple juice with your glasses of water assists hydration.
2) Compress and Hydrate your skin prior to cleansing for a much deeper cleanse. Skin will feel silky soft and you will be using cleansing products much more economically too.

3) Remember to complete both morning and evening cleanse with a cool compress or a cool splash.
Why?
This simple technique contracts a tiny muscle beside the hair follicle, thus helping to wash away any remaining dirt or make-up and keeps your skin soft, without having to use harsh exfoliants which disrupt your 28-30 day skin cell cycle which just renders your skin more prone to sensitivities and sun damage. Those outer cells are important protectors and should only naturally slough off when they’re ready.
4) Once a week give your skin a Facial Steam Bath and Cleansing Clay Mask treatment for the deepest cleanse to keep your skin looking clear and healthy. I think a Sunday night works well for this treatment, helps to keep me in the habit too.
Tip: Use Cleansing Sponge to re-moisten Cleansing Clay Mask after it’s dried, it’s no longer active once dry, then the Mask will be removed easily and efficiently with Cleansing Sponge.
5) After Facial Steam Mask and Cleansing Clay Mask apply a Cream Mask, which absorbs into the skin particularly well at this time. Cream Mask application should be done a second time during each week.
Tip: For your second Cream Mask application during the week. Cleanse nice early in the evening, apply Cream Mask, remembering with this mask you also apply around eye contour as an ‘eye mask’ as well. Leave on as long as possible, removing with a warm, moist cloth before bed.
Cream Masks:
Rejuvenating Mask – benefits all skin conditions, refining pores and making a noticeable difference
Moisturising Mask – Dryness or dehydration, may also be used as a day cream also for ‘parched’ dry skin
Soothing Mask – Sensitive, red, irritated skin, also helpful to use a day cream for rosacea
Firming Mask – a warming mask with the power of rose in all it’s forms to firm and tone
6) Adhere to Daily Rituals…
Morning Ritual
Cleanse with Cleansing Cream
Facial Toner or Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum (if appropriate)
Day Care to balance, regulate, nourish and protect skin against the elements
Evening Ritual
Cleanse with Cleansing Milk
Facial Toner or Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum (if appropriate)
7) Never use heavy, occlusive face night creams that impede your skin’s night time functions nor use eye creams overnight as that usually just results in puffy eyes in the morning.
Read more about our no night cream stance in our Dr. Hauschka Skin Facts here…
8) Complete a 30 night treatment with Rhythmic Night Conditioner instead of Toner at least in the two most transitional seasons of autumn and spring. Ideally one treatment each season. A skin cell cycle is 28-30 days
9) We recommend a Classic Facial Treatment with a Dr. Hauschka Trained Esthetician at the beginning of the year to check in with your skin condition/concerns and receive an updated product prescription to ensure you’re investing in the best products and regime for optimum results.

Skin is dynamic, it changes with age, the seasons, lifestyle factors, hormonal influences such as puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, post natal and menopause. I even use different day care in the week from the weekend, because my environment is different.
10) Treat yourself to natural and organic Body Products too that will nourish your skin and your senses, providing moisture and aromatic support.
The skin is your body’s largest organ, and it’s semi-permeable, so yes, only natural and organic body care as well as face care.
11) At the beginning of the year do a Make-up Clean-up and during the year attend a Dr. Hauschka Make-up Event to learn if you have cool toned or warm toned skin, to ensure you’re buying colours that best suit you. Learn application techniques and try out a new look.
In store Events for Skin Care Consultation and/or Make-up run from February to November each year and they’re advertised in our e-Newsletter and on Facebook.
Tip: Remember mascara should be thrown out after 3 months, natural or otherwise, for hygiene reasons. New one beginning of January, April, July & October.
12) Clean your make-up brushes every second week. Hygiene with skin care is so important. And Dr. Hauschka make-up is colour as well as care for your skin.
Good quality brushes give you a professional, long-lasting make-up. Look after this investment and they will last years and years.
Tip: Always lay your brushes flat after cleaning to dry. If they are standing upwards they don’t hold their shape as well and moisture gets into the glue.
