15 Stress Less Tips

1) Include relaxation in your week for instance, instead of watching tele, dance or do yoga in your living room. A recent study found reading reduced stress by a whopping 68% and listening to music 61%.

2) Go for a walk, preferably in nature, every morning for 30 minutes, maybe find a walking buddy. A 30 minute evening walk helps to clear your mind from the day’s work.

3) Talk about it, problem shared is a problem halved.

4) Breathe, deep breathe and stretch.

5) Go to bed earlier.

6) Focus on what you can control.

7) Reminisce about good times.

8) Look for opportunities in life’s challenges.

9) Stop worrying.

10) Lose yourself in a good book or a great movie.

11) Choose your reaction.

12) Put things into perspective, will this matter a year from now?

13) Do more of what brings you joy.

14) Laughter is the best medicine. SMILE! 🙂

15) Dress daily with a supportive blend: Rose Nurturing Body Cream to nurture your spirit and Moor Lavender Calming Body Oil to soothe your soul. I find Blackthorn Toning Body Oil is strengthening and Almond St. John’s wort Soothing Body Oil is cheerful. Revitalise and energise with Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Oil and Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Body Moisturiser.

Blend to suit your needs for daily support. It’s not just about moisturising your skin, although they do that particularly well. We just expect more from our body moisturising.

Moor Lavender Calming Bath Essence is perfect to aid relaxation and a good night’s sleep…

a) In your compress and hydrate cleansing basin water
b) In the bath
c) On a tissue under your pillow
d) Pour into a pretty bowl of hot water to disperse calming aromatics around your home

Sensitive Skin

Screen Shot 2014-02-13 at 3.06.08 pm

A sensitive skin requires gentle skin care that also strengthens the condition towards a balanced and healthy skin.

How do I determine a Sensitive Skin Condition?

Redness, blotchy, thin skin. Possibly accompanied by permanently red cheek/nose region (visible capillaries), itching, flakiness. A skin that reacts easily.

Dr. Hauschka and Sensitive Skin

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care is particularly suited to a sensitive skin due to the gentle and strengthening nature of our products that are formulated to bring balance back to an unbalanced skin.

Often such a sensitive skin condition has come about through the use of overly harsh exfoliating products and/or lathering, overly alkaline cleansing products.

Dr. Hauschka product prescriptions are not black and white. Your particular skin condition is as uniquely individual as you are, therefore we always recommend having a facial treatment and seek advice from a Dr. Hauschka Esthetician for the optimum product prescription and daily regime. This is particularly so with a sensitive skin.

Recommended Daily Ritual

Morning:
Cleansing Cream
Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum – if you also require support for a maturing skin
Day Cream*

Evening:
Cleansing Milk
Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum – if required

Toner:
We recommend Clarifying Toner for a sensitive skin because it contains Daisy which is anti-inflammatory and Echinacea for its anti-bacterial properties. Often a sensitive skin’s protection has been compromised with flakiness.

Screen Shot 2014-02-10 at 4.41.36 pm

*Day Cream:
Some sensitive skins also carry heat. If that’s the case look to day care with cooling properties such as Quince or Regenerating, Rose has warming properties.

Rose Day Cream Light: suitable for a sensitive skin
Rose Day Cream: suitable for a dry, sensitive skin, and contains St. John’s wort which is calming
Melissa Day Cream is specifically formulated for a Sensitive Combination (oily t-zone, dry/normal cheeks) skin
Quince Day Cream: usually recommended for a normal skin however the cooling and soothing properties of quince make it also an option for a sensitive skin
Toned Day Cream: our tinted moisturiser that’s suitable for a sensitive skin and also helps to conceal redness and even skin tone. For a skin that’s more on the dry side.
Regenerating Serum and/or Regenerating Day Cream are formulated to support a maturing sensitive skin

Extra Care

We highly recommend Soothing Mask as a twice a week mask treatment however it may be used also as a day time moisturiser to sooth and balance a hypersensitive skin or simply to give skin a helping hand boost for a month.

A skin cell cycle is 28-30 days and mirroring this rhythm we also highly recommend a 30 night treatment of Rhythmic Conditioner Sensitive, one ampoule per evening and instead of Toner to strengthen and calm a sensitive skin.

If your skin requires more support than Rhythmic Conditioner Sensitive we would then recommend Intensive Treatment 03 a one bottle/one month treatment for a hypersensitive and/or stressed skin condition.

12 Steps to a Radiant Skin

Screen Shot 2014-02-06 at 1.45.16 pm

For a balanced and healthy skin!

Screen Shot 2013-09-04 at 12.35.44 PM

1) Drink warm water and lemon juice every morning on waking to help keep your skin clear. Even better to add a little organic apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of honey in as well!
Resolve to drink at least 6-8 glasses of water every day to keep your skin plump and hydrated.

Lemon Tip: When lemons are in season juice plenty and freeze small amounts in ice cubes. Pop an ice cube in a cup at night so it’s quick and easy for the morning.

Hydration Tip: A small amount of apple juice with your glasses of water assists hydration.

Screen Shot 2014-01-13 at 11.48.06 am

2) Compress and Hydrate your skin prior to cleansing for a much deeper cleanse. Skin will feel silky soft and you will be using cleansing products much more economically too.

3) Remember to complete both morning and evening cleanse with a cool compress or a cool splash.

Why?
This simple technique contracts a tiny muscle beside the hair follicle, thus helping to wash away any remaining dirt or make-up and keeps your skin soft, without having to use harsh exfoliants which disrupt your 28-30 day skin cell cycle which just renders your skin more prone to sensitivities and sun damage. Those outer cells are important protectors and should only naturally slough off when they’re ready.

Screen Shot 2014-01-13 at 11.29.47 am

4) Once a week give your skin a Facial Steam Bath and Cleansing Clay Mask treatment for the deepest cleanse to keep your skin looking clear and healthy. I think a Sunday night works well for this treatment, helps to keep me in the habit too.

Tip: Use Cleansing Sponge to re-moisten Cleansing Clay Mask after it’s dried, it’s no longer active once dry, then the Mask will be removed easily and efficiently with Cleansing Sponge.

Screen Shot 2013-09-25 at 10.02.38 AM

5) After Facial Steam Mask and Cleansing Clay Mask apply a Cream Mask, which absorbs into the skin particularly well at this time. Cream Mask application should be done a second time during each week.

Tip: For your second Cream Mask application during the week. Cleanse nice early in the evening, apply Cream Mask, remembering with this mask you also apply around eye contour as an ‘eye mask’ as well. Leave on as long as possible, removing with a warm, moist cloth before bed.

Cream Masks:
Rejuvenating Mask – benefits all skin conditions, refining pores and making a noticeable difference
Moisturising Mask – Dryness or dehydration, may also be used as a day cream also for ‘parched’ dry skin
Soothing Mask – Sensitive, red, irritated skin, also helpful to use a day cream for rosacea
Firming Mask – a warming mask with the power of rose in all it’s forms to firm and tone

6)  Adhere to Daily Rituals…

Morning Ritual
Cleanse with Cleansing Cream
Facial Toner or Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum (if appropriate)
Day Care to balance, regulate, nourish and protect skin against the elements

Evening Ritual
Cleanse with Cleansing Milk
Facial Toner or Clarifying Toner
Regenerating Serum (if appropriate)

7)  Never use heavy, occlusive face night creams that impede your skin’s night time functions nor use eye creams overnight as that usually just results in puffy eyes in the morning.

Read more about our no night cream stance in our Dr. Hauschka Skin Facts here…

Dr. Hauschka Skin Care; Dr. Hauschka Kosmetik

8) Complete a 30 night treatment with Rhythmic Night Conditioner instead of Toner at least in the two most transitional seasons of autumn and spring. Ideally one treatment each season. A skin cell cycle is 28-30 days

Screen Shot 2013-09-14 at 6.39.48 PM

9) We recommend a Classic Facial Treatment with a Dr. Hauschka Trained Esthetician at the beginning of the year to check in with your skin condition/concerns and receive an updated product prescription to ensure you’re investing in the best products and regime for optimum results.

 Dr. Hauschka Trained Estheticians

Skin is dynamic, it changes with age, the seasons, lifestyle factors, hormonal influences such as puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, post natal and menopause. I even use different day care in the week from the weekend, because my environment is different.

10) Treat yourself to natural and organic Body Products too that will nourish your skin and your senses, providing moisture and aromatic support.

The skin is your body’s largest organ, and it’s semi-permeable, so yes, only natural and organic body care as well as face care.

Screen Shot 2014-01-13 at 12.07.34 pm

11) At the beginning of the year do a Make-up Clean-up and during the year attend a Dr. Hauschka Make-up Event to learn if you have cool toned or warm toned skin, to ensure you’re buying colours that best suit you. Learn application techniques and try out a new look.

In store Events for Skin Care Consultation and/or Make-up run from February to November each year and they’re advertised in our e-Newsletter and on Facebook.

Tip: Remember mascara should be thrown out after 3 months, natural or otherwise, for hygiene reasons. New one beginning of January, April, July & October.

Screen Shot 2014-01-13 at 11.58.42 am

12)  Clean your make-up brushes every second week. Hygiene with skin care is so important. And Dr. Hauschka make-up is colour as well as care for your skin.

Good quality brushes give you a professional, long-lasting make-up. Look after this investment and they will last years and years.

Tip: Always lay your brushes flat after cleaning to dry. If they are standing upwards they don’t hold their shape as well and moisture gets into the glue.
